I've lived in University Place and Monarch 544 before signing my lease with The University Suites. Needless to say, University Suites has been my favorite place down here! I love the three-story townhouse design. Everyone in the unit gets their personal space (if wanted) if not, the common area is a very spacious room that you and your roommates can share quality time together in. My bedroom here at The Suites is 2x bigger than U.P. and Monarch 544. I have a private medium size bathroom and technically a walk in closet. There are two big storage closets throughout the apt. which comes in handy when you have a lot of things to keep stored and/or cleaning supplies. We have furnished and unfurnished units as well as wooden floors and carpet units. Now that the weather is getting warmer, I can enjoy breakfast, lunch, or dinner outside on the porch with my boyfriend and dog. Every porch comes equipped with a hook where you can place a 10-20 ft long leash for your dog, which is amazing when you’re running late and not enough time to walk your dog, just saying. We have a nice pool that stays CLEAN throughout the year, a basketball court, and a volleyball court, and dog park.These things are not there just for show, you will be able to catch people using these amenities almost every other day. Which is awesome and sometimes motivates me to get out there and join or be active on my own. I’ve been able to create awesome friendships with the people who live in this community. Everyone I’ve come in contact with has been extremely friendly. If you’re a transferee or new to this area, trust me, you’ll find some great friends and connections around the neighborhood! The Suites is in walking distance from HGTC and literally 2 minutes (including traffic) from Coastal Carolina. We’re also about five minutes from a gas station, a couple of good restaurants, and grocery store... with all being within walking distance. With that being said, you will be saving tons of gas money if needed! I strictly believe our management takes into consideration that we are college kids and therefore they do not hesitate to work with us. I know in a previous review someone mentioned about how it takes MULTIPLE complaints to get something done/fixed, but that’s not always the case because they have always responded with speed. When they don’t, it's because we have to wait for a part to come in or etc. University Suites have had a fair share of incidents happen (which happens everywhere around the world) within the past few years.. I can’t stress to you how hard our management has worked to keep our grounds nice and safe. So if you want a fun and studious environment you should definitely look forward to moving into the suite life!!!! Because it really is suite. Oh, I forgot to mention the daily activities that they host, make sure to look into those too, you’ll love it just as much as we at the Suite life do!
Fun place to live. Different events going on daily. Almost free food every day at the office. Coffee water and snacks always available. Pepsi machine at clubhouse is only $1. It is nice having a 3 story townhouse rather than being on the same level as everyone. Always opportunities to win different things with promotions and events that the office has.
Just moved in a couple months ago love the place so far, people are chill, love the vibes and the townhome feel. Would reccomend over the other apartment complexes around CCU and HGTC but I've always liked the suites so maybe I'm just biased.
Be warned the good reviews come from people who have worked for the office. I have lived here for almost 2 years now and I honestly don't know what happened to this place. A year ago I would have given them 5 stars but now that is not the case. Keep in mind some units are much worse than others. Mine still had carpet and a huge purple stain in the kitchen. If you have Capet be super aware about fleas. The location and free food may seem appealing but it is not worth the cost of living here. Within the last 2 years I have had my car broken into, 5 separate occasions of things being stolen off my porch, someone got shot 3 doors down from me, I have been atacked by 3 dogs and to top that off my dog got poisoned last year so badly I had to take her to the vet and had her on iv fluids. It seems like the only way to get anything done is to complain about it on social media or by going into the office numerous times, which a resident should not have to do. My window has been leaking so badly that I have had textbooks and notes ruined from water damage that lead to mold issues in my room. It took them a year and a half to figure out what was causing it. After the hurricane there was a lot of water damage on the ground floor in my unit and all they did was slap coat of paint on it and called it fine(which took 2 and a half weeks to come in and do). Learn from my mistakes and NEVER LIVE HERE. Other than 2 new desk staff the office is unprofessional. Just because the majority of us are students at the University doesn't mean you get to take advantage of us. Be careful with your electricity bills as well ; one of my friends that also lives here had someone come out and look at the meter and she had not gone over in our electricity but yet she still got a $15 per person that $60 per unit overage fee. They will nickel and dime you and will implement new rules after you've already signed your lease and tell you that you have to pay them even though legally that's not the case. so I guess just don't live here, there are so many better options. do your research learn from others mistakes and if you still are going to live here DO NOT LIVE ON THE CORNER UNITS you're much more of a target for vandalism and there's no cameras besides the ones at the office which are crap.
